About Me

Me (far right) with my two sisters

I began my publishing career at New American Library (NAL) as an editorial assistant to the Executive Managing Editor. Later I rose through the ranks at Simon & Schuster and Bantam Doubleday Dell (Random House). As a senior editor at BDD, I acquired and edited middle-grade fiction, Young Adult fiction, nonfiction, books based on licensed properties, and many popular series such as Encyclopedia Brown, Choose Your Own Adventure, The Saddle Club, and more. I’ve also been an elementary school librarian, and I currently have a part-time job as the senior editor for a creator of animated stories and apps for children.

During my freelance career, I’ve worked with hundreds of writers as well as publishers such as HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Readers Digest, Running Press, Random House, and Lerner Publishing.

I’ve served as a mentor at the One-On-One Plus conference sponsored by the Rutgers University Council on Children’s Literature, and I’m the author of about forty books for children. My books range from picture books to stories based on licensed properties to nonfiction and two Young Adult novels for reluctant readers.

I enjoy working closely with writers and believe my strength as an editor lies in helping people locate the stories they want to tell. My services include line editing, developmental editing, e-book and self-publishing consultation, writing, rewriting, outline development, proofreading, and manuscript critiques. Please visit my Editorial Services page to learn more about these services and my fees.
